Everything I’ve ever read or listened to from Brian Tracy has been excellent, but this book review is going to be on Maximum Achievement: The Proven System of Strategies and Skills That Will Unlock Your Hidden Powers to Succeed.

The Importance of Self Esteem
Brian Tracy talks about self-esteem and that you have to love yourself before anyone else will ever love you.
He teaches that your level of self love determines the quality of your relationships. If you do not like yourself, chances are your friends won’t like you either.
Your daily routine is affecting your level of self love . If your daily habits are self destructive, then that will negatively affect your self love.

Goals Are The Fuel In The Furnace of Achievement
Brian Tracy is famous for goal-setting, and as you may have guessed it, he mentions this in Maximum Achievement.
He states how our brains are very goal-oriented. You are exactly where you are today because you have decided to be there.
Your thoughts, your actions and your behavior have brought you here. If your goal is to get through the day and drink beer when you get home, you will achieve it. If your goal is to be healthy and happy, then you will achieve that too. Your only limitation is your desire. How badly do you want it?
First, decide exactly what your want. Second, determine the price you’re going to have to pay to get it, and then resolve to pay that price. There is no such thing as something for nothing. Whatever price you have to pay, you must pay it in advance.
There are certain rules for goal setting, Brian teaches. Listed below are the rules that he outlines in his Maximum Achievement book that are essential to be accompanied by any goal.
1) Your Goals Must Be Harmonious
Your goals can’t contradict each other in any way; they must be in harmony. If you want to become wealthy, but at the same time want to be a couch potato. That doesn’t work. Your goals have to be mutually supportive.
2) Goals Must Be Worth It
Your goals will make you get outside of your comfort zone, so they should be backed up by a big enough “why too”. If you are going to be working hard for something, it must be worth it for you to put in the all that work.
3) Goals Must Be Quantitative and Qualitative.
Your goals must be measurable.
5) Goals Should Be Short-Term and Long-Term
You need goals for today, the week ahead, for 1 year, 5 years, 10, 20 years from now and so on.
6) You Should Continually Set Goals.
Can you tell that Brian Tracy loves goals? As soon as you achieve a goal, you should immediately set the next one.
If you don’t, you will lose your momentum and start to get lazy. You should always be pushing yourself to be winning more. You must always be getting better. You are capable of achieving your financial and relationship goals.
Brian’s Champion Formula For Winning In Life
Brian Tracy teaches goal achieving techniques in all of his books. Including this one. They been used by people all over the world to transform their lives. If you do the work and don’t give up, you’ll be successful in any area of your life.
1) Develop an Intense Desire To Win
Having a burning desire will motivate you to overcome the challenges that stop most people. Ask yourself “Why do I really want to achieve this goal?” Once you’ve identified your “Why Too’s”, you will have your reason to persevere as you encounter inevitable setbacks.
2) Believe That You Can Win
Truly believe that you can achieve your goal and can win in your life. You must believe in yourself and that you deserve to be successful.
Your goals should be believable, if you do not believe it can happen, you won’t get very far,
If you set a goal to make a billion dollars but you are currently making 40,000 per year, then making that big of a jump will be too unrealistic for you. You should absolutely believe you will be successful, despite any setbacks you encounter along the way.
3) Write Your Goals Down
A goal not written down has no energy behind it. Brian says that writing your goals down daily will increase your chances of success by 10 times.
A powerful exercise you can do to help you achieve your goals is to write it down in detail, and describe exactly what it would be like to have it.
This will help program your subconscious mind to believe you have achieved it.
4) Determine The Benefits Of Achieving Your Goal.
Simply make a list of all the benefits that you will enjoy by achieving this goal. What will doubling your profits do for you in your life? How will that effect the car you drive and the home you live in? What investments will you buy with that extra money?
5) Start Where You Are, and Use What You Have.
If you want to double your income, or lose a certain amount of weight, you need to start where you are right now. Quit making excuses that you don’t have enough time or resources. Make the decision that you are going to make it happen, and then get to work and do it.
6) Set a Deadline.
A deadline creates urgency, which will further motivate you to get the job done. Without the deadline, you may put it off and procrastinate.
Setting a deadline ensures that you always focus on the most productive use of your time at all times.
7) Make a List Of All The Setbacks That Are Preventing You From Accomplishing The Goal.
There will always be setbacks. It’s unavoidable. Let’s identify them before you get started. Once you have your list, ask yourself, “What is the biggest setback of this list?”
The answer you come up with is your brick wall. Change the way you feel about this setback, and realize that you have the ability to overcome this.
8) Identify What You Don’t Know That You Need to Know
To make more money, first you must learn more. If you want to achieve more financial success, you must learn and study finances.
If you want to achieve a relationship goal, then you must learn and study relationships. Make a list of all the things you need to study and then start making studying a daily habit. Set out to invest a minimum of 10 to 20 minutes working on whatever skills you need to learn, and do not stop EVER. If you are persistent you will get it, if you are consistent you will keep it.
Stop believing that there is a get rich quick method that you are going to find. They do not exist. Getting rich comes from lots of failure and persistence. However even 10-20 minutes per day can take you to financial success providing you are persistent.
9) Compile A List Of The People That Can Help You
This list may include your family, friends, a coach, mentor, banker, customers, and business partners. Once you have your list, organize it in a list of priority. Who’s help can get you there?
10) Make a Plan
Write out what you want, when you want it, why you want it, and what you are willing to do to get it.
This is how we start your plan. Next, make a list of all the actions and habits you need to succeed. What daily habits can you implement that will take you where you want to be?
11) Use Visualization.
Have a clear mental image of your goal fully achieved. What would it be like? What would it feel like? Visualize it in detail. This habit is powerful and will help you achieve your goals.
12) Make The Decision To Never Surrender
There will be times when you want to surrender. You must never quit. Failure is not an option. Decide to keep going, no matter what. As long as you persevere, you will eventually be successful.
