Hi, if you are a human with a brain, then you know that your mind thinks about 10 million thoughts everyday, and many of them are negative.
Maybe not you, but someone you know.
Let’s take a quick peek at some of the thoughts a random person would think. Let’s call this individual “Alexander”
I am not sure who this person is, but that is an awesome name just to start with.
Alexander’s Negative Thoughts
Let’s say that Alexander has a lousy self image. He has low self confidence and he sucks at talking to people.
This is what his mind is probably thinking quite often:
“I hate my life, I am Mr. Alexander the loser that can’t get my life together. I am struggling and can’t fix my life. I can’t talk to people and make friends, I suck at everything.”
You get my point?
Do you think that Alexander will get winners results like that? What do you think his results will be instead?
This is a perfect example of how the story in Alexanders head is matching his outer world. Is he capable of being a winner and getting ahead in his life?
Of course he is, but his current subconscious programming is going to keep him stuck until he decides to fix it. Otherwise, nothing will change for him.
Every day Alexander is programming his subconscious anyway. He just doesn’t know that it is happening. When he thinks thoughts like “I am a loser and I can’t win” that is programming his subconscious mind.
In a very negative way.
Let’s say that we decide to confront Alexander about his lousy mindset.
How Would We Do It?
We could tell him that his thoughts have enormous power to change his life.
He needs to know that his thousands of negative thoughts that he has every day are self destructive and limiting.
We would need to tell him that he needs to think like a winner, in order to get winners results right?
How do you think he would respond?
He would understand what you are saying, and say thanks, then work to apply it, lets assume.
So now Mr. Alexander starts to notice his negative thoughts every day and he tries to counter them with positive ones. He notices himself thinking thoughts like “I am a loser and I am stupid” and catches himself thinking those thoughts.
Then, as per the advice we provided him, he tries to counter it with “I am a winner and I am smart”.
Now, how does that go?
Well, ask yourself, how does that go for you? Do you find it effective?
Try it yourself and say it to yourself (in your head).
Pretty Good Advice, but Does it Work?
Muhammad Ali has a quote that says “It is the repetition of affirmations that create a belief, and once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen”.
So what kind of affirmations did Muhammad Ali use?
He thought champions thoughts. Let’s check out some of his quotes while we are here.
Muhammad Ali Quotes
I’m the greatest thing that ever lived! I’m the king of the world! I’m the prettiest thing that ever lived. ~Muhammad Ali
I should be a postage stamp, because that’s the only way I’ll ever get licked. I’m beautiful. I’m fast. I’m so mean I make medicine sick. I can’t possibly be beat.
I’m not the greatest; I’m the double greatest. Not only do I knock ’em out, I pick the round.
It’s not bragging if you can back it up.
OK, so that was to emphasize how powerful the mind is. He is very inspirational.
Not So Fast. Affirmations do not work for everybody. Let’s go check in with Alexander and see how he is doing.
Alexander is a smart guy, and he has been working to apply affirmations into his life. He has been affirming “I am a winner and I am smart. However, when he uses affirmations, he finds that it isn’t getting through. He says he is getting resistance.
Do you know what he means when he says resistance?
Let’s get more specific with Alexander, and try out some more affirmations.
We will instruct Alexander to try thinking thoughts like this.
“I am confident”
“I am a cool person”
“I like myself”
“I am good at talking to people”
“I am rich and successful”
Try those yourself. How do they feel?
Do you feel resistance? Does it feel good when you think them?
If it feels good, then that means it is working.
That means the conscious mind desires the thing, and does not have any blocks to you having the thing.
Let’s take one of these affirmations such as “I am confident winner.” and instruct Alexander to begin implementing this affirmation 50 times per day.
What will happen will depend on his resistance and blocks to that affirmation. Let’s say he has poor self confidence and thinks hes a loser.
Now he affirms “I am a confident winner” 50 times a day and guess what happens?
Can you relate to this particular set of circumstances? Many people can.
You do it 50 times per day, for 10 years, and guess what happens?
The repetitions do not matter because every single repetition is being blocked by your conscious mind. It isn’t getting through to the subconscious mind to carry out those instructions. (When the affirmation doesn’t feel good)
This is why a spiritual GURU recently wrote a book about how “the feeling is the prayer”.
That is excellent advice for the law of attraction,
For millions of people, affirmations work effectively and get results.
For millions of other people, affirmations do not work effectively and do not get results.
It all depends on the feeling of the affirmation you are using.
Rather then using a method that doesn’t work with certainty or consistency, we can use a method that does.
Let’s introduce Alexander to a much more powerful method for him to get himself unstuck in his life.
Getting Alexander Satisfactory Results
Alexander got a taste of affirmations and he wasn’t very impressed.
He tells us that they don’t feel good, and are not having the effective impact that he would like.
What should we advise Alexander now?
Should we tell him to just get motivated, set goals, and work hard on himself everyday?
How is that going to work?
Alexander is depressed, has low self confidence, and after a hard day of work, he is not willing to tough out public speaking courses, or listen to more stupid GURU’S. He just wants to chill out.
What should we do to help him?
Alexander Has Great Options Left
Let’s find out some more about Alexander.
He can still visualize and create visualization boards.
How pumped do you think Alexander will be about those suggestions?
I doubt he will be excited.
Alexander has told us that he is not good at visualizing. He can’t get a picture of his ideal life, and he finds it frustrating to do it. It doesn’t come naturally to him.
In this case, we will tell Alexander that he does not need to do visualization, because he is not a visual person.
However, we will still recommend him to use a vision board, because any style can use it, and give good energy towards what it is that you want.
What you focus on grows, so by using a vision board, you are giving positive energy towards what you want, which means you will attract more of it.
Alexander Still Needs Satisfactory Results
Success For Alexander
Luckily for Alexander, I have already taken the Law of Attraction path, and I have found alternative methods that will work for anybody.
Let’s talk to Alexander about Afformations.
Not affirmations but Afformations that were invented by Noah St John.
At this point, we will advice Alexander to add a “Why” to the beginning of his affirmations, to get them through the conscious mind filter.
Let’s look at his affirmations “I am a winner and I am smart”
We can simply add a”Why” to the affirmation, turning it into a “afformation”
Which would look like this – “Why am I a winner and why am I smart?
He should change all of his negative thoughts to Afformations.
Alexander Becomes The Boss of His Mind
Every time he notices a negative thought such as “I am a loser and I am stupid”, he changes it any afformation he desires. Here are some examples
“Why am I a winner?”
“Why am I confident”
“Why do I love having success in my business?”
“Why am I so loved?”
He notices that they feel good to use and do not have any resistance. Therefor they are getting through to the subconscious.
After some time, he notices that his mind has a negative thought loop that has some momentum.
Like a negative story in his head about unfair life has been to him and all that.
So, following our advice, he tries to use an afformation. “Why am I confident winner”? However the negative thoughts in his head are strong and he finds it hard to stop thinking them.
Here is what we should advise him in this situation.
Use The Power of 3
We will tell Alexander that when he notices his negative mental chatter, and he cannot shut it up, to use the power 3 repetitions of whichever afformation he wants . This will stop the negative mental chatter and override it.
Try it for yourself and let me know how it goes.
Today when you are going about your business, catch yourself thinking negative thoughts, and replace them with an afformation.
If the negative thoughts continue, then use the afformation 3 times in a row. (a couple seconds in between). And notice that it will override the negative momentum in your mind.
So lets say your mind is complaining that you have no partner.
Ask yourself 3 times with 2 second space in between:
“Why do I have a wonderful significant other?”
“Why do I have a wonderful significant other?”
“Why do I have a wonderful significant other?”
By repeating it three times, it will stop your negative thought loops that is causing you depression and to feel lousy. Thus giving you control over your mind again.
This is being the BOSS of your mind, as you should be. Do not let your mind think negative thoughts.
There are over 400 more Afformations that you can use for examples in Noah St John’s book that you can use. Check it out here on Amazon.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you got some value out of this. What are your thoughts about affirmations? Do you get resistance, or do they feel good for you?
How about visualization. Do you like it and use it?
